Cincinnati and Bordeaux: an ever stronger partnership
On the 29th and 30th October, a large delegation from the University of Cincinnati visited the University of Bordeaux.
Led by Provost Beverly Davenport, the chief academic officer of the University of Cincinnati (UC), the delegation was composed of official representatives such as Prof. Raj Mehta, Vice-President for International Affairs, Prof. Ken Petren, Dean of the college of Arts and Sciences and Prof. Robert Probst, Dean of the college of Design, Architecture, Art and Planning.
During an intensive two day visit, the delegates met with Prof. Manuel Tunon de Lara, President of the University of Bordeaux (UBx) and several vice-presidents. Meetings were organized with students interested in attending UC and disciplinary-related, parallel sessions were held to allow delegates a better understanding of the opportunities presented by UBx and to discuss potential partnerships. An official presentation of two of our flagship collaboration projects in chemistry and aeronautics took place and was followed by the signature of a Memorandum of Understanding on the development of a joint master degree in aero-systems operations.
In addition to the UBx events, meetings were also organized with our partners Bordeaux Montaigne University, Bordeaux Institute of Technology (INP) and the Bordeaux School of Architecture and Landscape.
This visit confirms the strategic nature of a partnership that was established just 18 months ago and has, since then, rapidely developed to cover both education and research within a large number of disciplines, for example: architecture, European studies, neuroscience, medicine, chemistry, aeronautics, business and management.
