An international workshop for an international Master, PCCP
The first edition of the PCCP Master Workshop took place on the 22nd and 23rd of June.
The overall objective of the workshop was to bring PCCP professors and students together for an academic yet fun event as this was also the occasion to celebrate the end of the first academic year. In addition, the workshop represented an ideal opportunity for students to present their first year research project to international researchers and professors.
During the workshop, sessions were held on a wide range of topics related to the various fields of physical chemistry, ranging from fundamental academic research to applied science. International professors from partner universities of the PCCP Master were invited to present their perspectives on recent trends in various research topics such as: molecular simulations, photonics, spectroscopy, theoretical chemistry, nanostructured materials and chemistry at interfaces.
In total, seven international speakers participated from the following universities: University of Rosario (Argentina), the University of San Sebastian (Spain), the University of Namur (Belgium), the University of Bologna (Italy), the University of Quito (Ecuador), São Paulo State University (UNSEP, Brazil) and the University of Central Florida (USA). PCCP students also featured in the workshop program, with the organization of a scientific poster presentation. As praised by Kathleen Richardson (Professor, University of Central Florida) "I thoroughly enjoyed the event and much appreciated the preparation and organization by the students.”
Our main goal is to share our international collaboration network with our students so that they may broaden their study perspectives.
Dr Cédric Crespos — Associate Professor in Physical-Chemistry, University of Bordeaux
60 participants attended the event including Bachelor and Master students (of which 11 students follow the PCCP Master program). The public was decidedly international with the countries of Brazil, Argentina, Ecuador, USA, Belgium, Italy and Spain represented!
This important event was a great opportunity not only for PCCP Master students, but also for Bachelor students to exchange with international researchers in a convivial environment. It promises to be the first of a long series of annual workshops that will be held in Bordeaux!
I look forward to next year’s event!
